New Cummins Virtual College Course on Turbocharger
A new Cummins Virtual College Course (CVC) is now available on quickserve.cummins.com, Course ID 1443 “Turbocharger Shoptalk”. Course time is estimated to be 0.6 hours.
Objectives of the course is to describe how the turbocharger oil seals work, describe the checks to be made before replacing a turbocharger due to oil seal leaks, describe the failure mode of Foreign Object Damage (FOD), identify the sources of FOD in the air system, describe the failure mode of the Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT) sector gear sticking, and identify the tests to be performed before replacing a VGT turbocharger or electronic actuator.
Course 1443 will be mandatory for all NEW product launches. The EPA 2021 product training for Midrange product will be available by end of Q3 2020 and the 2021 Heavy Duty product training shortly after that.
Current product service model names on B, L, and X platforms listed below will have this course added as optional for the next 6 months. This will set the qualification status for the technicians and Dealer/Distributor status to YELLOW until the technician completes course 1443. While YELLOW would not affect warranty repair status, this course would need to be completed for the status to turn to GREEN. After 6 months the course will be set as mandatory. Once set as mandatory, the Distributor or Dealer will NOT be able to perform any warranty repair until they successfully complete course 1443.
